About

DTR is an inclusive and social running community, privileged to run on the most beautiful trails in the world! Our values are Fitness, Fun & Friendship.

Who We Are

Dandenong Trail Runners began in 2012 when a handful of locals, including Commonwealth Games marathoner Peter Mitchell, decided that single-track laughter beats solo kilometres. After a decade of informal outings the crew voted to formalise and became an incorporated recreational club in 2023.

Our Core Values

Fun

Explore muddy switchbacks, wake the lyrebirds and share post-run laughs.

Friendship

Make new mates, swap stories over coffee and cheer each other on.

Fitness

Push yourself at organised events and our regular Thursday and Sunday sessions.

All runs start together then split into pace groups after three to four kilometres. Expect technical single track, steep ascents and descents and plenty of scenery. Locations rotate around the Dandenong Ranges and occasionally other Melbourne trails. Full details and start points are posted on our Facebook and Instagram pages a few days before each run.

How We Run

  1. Detailed route and gear notes are published on socials a few days in advance.
  2. Experienced run leaders keep the group on track so no one gets lost.
  3. Most runners hike the steep climbs. Smiles first, Strava times second.

Everyone Welcome

Ultra veteran, weekend jogger or complete beginner, if you love dirt underfoot and do not mind walking uphill you will fit right in. Come along and see why we think the Dandenongs are the best backyard a runner could ask for.
