Shakeouts, brand activations, recovery and after-parties happening across Sydney before and after the world’s largest fun run!

City2Surf week is here, and Sydney’s running community has turned the days before the world’s largest fun run into a week of its own.

From sunrise shakeouts across the northern beaches and the eastern suburbs to wear-tests, carb-loads and the after-parties waiting at the finish, there is something on almost every morning and evening between now and race day.

We’ve pulled together the shakeouts, activations and celebrations worth knowing about, so you can plan your week around the ones that suit you.

All times are listed in AEST. Event details may change, and registrations are required for many activations. A few have already sold out or closed, so check the organiser’s official page before heading along.

City2Surf Race Weekend at a Glance

The Voltaren City2Surf runs on Sunday 9 August, covering 14km from Sydney’s CBD to the finish at Bondi Beach.

The event site opens at 6:00 am at Hyde Park, and runners are released in waves through the morning:

  • 7:35 am, Elite, Preferred and Red start group, Park Street
  • 7:40 am, Green start group, College Street North
  • 7:54 am, Purple start group, College Street South
  • 8:19 am, Charity Superstars start group, Park Street
  • 8:22 am, Blue start group, College Street North
  • 9:00 am, Yellow start group, College Street South

The last participant crosses the finish line at Bondi Beach by 2:00 pm.

Bib collection happens at the City2Surf Expo at the Hordern Pavilion, Moore Park, from Thursday 6 to Saturday 8 August. There is no bib collection on race morning, so collect yours during the week. One note for Saturday: the Moore Park precinct will be busy across the day with a football crowd arriving from mid-afternoon, so aim to collect your bib before 2:00 pm to avoid the congestion.

Check your official participant information for recommended arrival times, start groups, transport details and any final updates.

Plan Your City2Surf Week

With shakeouts and after-parties spread from the northern beaches to Rose Bay, Bondi, Coogee and Moore Park, it is worth mapping your week before it begins.

Roads across the eastern suburbs close early on race morning, and the Moore Park precinct will be busy on Saturday with a football crowd arriving in the afternoon, so leave extra time and check transport before you set out.

Register early where you can, double-check meeting points, and pick the sessions that will add to your weekend rather than leave you tired on the start line.

Save this guide, send it to your running crew, and start planning your City2Surf week.

Know of another activation we should include? Send the details to @rundais.aus so we can keep the guide updated.
