The Team
- Blake Hose: A three-time Australian representative at the World Sky Running Championships and an Oceania Sky Running Champion across both short-course and marathon distances. He’s stood on podiums and cracked top-10s at some of the biggest trail races on the planet, including Transvulcania.
As a coach, Blake focuses on helping athletes reach their full potential through genuine support, clear guidance, and a long-term, consistency-first approach. He believes being approachable and understanding life outside running is key to a successful athlete–coach partnership. - David Byrne: A lifelong runner who started out on the track and road before shifting to trails over a decade ago. He has represented Australia in multiple disciplines and owns elite-level PBs from 5km through to the half marathon. With racing experience across the globe and more than 10 years coaching elite athletes, Dave brings deep knowledge and a steady, athlete-focused approach to every program he builds.
- Majell Backhausen: A leading figure in the Australian trail scene since 2013 and has taken on some of the world’s biggest races — including UTMB. Beyond racing, Maj is heavily involved in environmental and community initiatives, making him a natural fit as APRC’s community coordinator. Passionate about the places running can take you, he loves the adventure side of the sport just as much as the performance side. And yes — he’s a proud fan of going very, very long… especially 100 milers.
- Mikey DimuantesL He has raced at an elite level since 2020, earning wins and podiums both in Australia and internationally. Most recently, he won the UTA100 and is currently Australia’s top-ranked trail runner. Mikey has been coached by Blake Hose since 2023, with APRC’s long-term, holistic approach driving major improvements across both short and long trail events.
After coaching friends for years, Mikey joined APRC to refine his craft and contribute to the coaching team. Balancing life as a full-time employee, student, athlete, and coach, he understands how to help runners fit training into real life — while still chasing big, exciting goals. - Milly Young: Originally from regional Western Australia and now based in the mountain playground of Chamonix, Milly Young spends her days running and climbing among Europe’s most iconic terrain. She recently placed 3rd overall in the PTL by UTMB alongside her brother — a 300km alpine epic with 25,000m of climbing — showcasing serious endurance credentials. Coaching since 2016 and having worked with some of the best in the business, Milly brings huge experience and a genuine love of helping athletes achieve their goals, making her a powerful addition to the coaching team.
