Unverified EventTakayna Trail
Last updated: 26 August, 2025Takayna Trail is a boutique ultramarathon fundraiser in remote north-west Tasmania, running since 2014. Set in the heart of the takayna wilderness—home to ancient Gondwanan rainforests—the event offers 22km, 37km, and 62km courses across rainforest, button-grass plains, and rugged, uneven terrain with steep climbs. It’s the Bob Brown Foundation’s largest annual fundraising event, raising over $400,000 in 2025.
Takayna Trail is set in one of Earth’s last truly wild places, yet it faces increasing threats from new mines, logging, and deforestation for a proposed heavy metals mine waste dump. In a time of climate and extinction crises, protecting takayna’s intact rainforests, clean water, and wildlife habitat is urgent.
