Held annually in the awe-inspiring Blue Mountains, New South Wales, UTA is Australia’s premier trail running event — and the second-largest Ultra-Trail event globally.
From May 15–18, 2025, thousands of runners, spectators, and supporters will once again gather in Katoomba to experience the wonder that is Ultra Trail Australia by UTMB. Whether you’re taking your first steps on the trails or chasing the ultimate 100-mile finish, UTA promises an unforgettable journey.
About Ultra Trail Australia
Born in 2008, Ultra Trail Australia has grown over 17 spectacular years into one of the most iconic trail running festivals in the world. Set against the majestic backdrop of the World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains National Park, the event offers a playground like no other, combining technical trails, breathtaking cliffs, lush valleys, and ancient forests.

UTA11 – Your First Taste of the Magic
A beautiful 12.6km journey that captures the spirit of Ultra Trail Australia. Start at Scenic World, flow along the Prince Henry Cliff Walk, and take on the famous Furber Steps to the finish. A perfect gateway into trail running.
UTA22 – Short Distance, Big Adventure
Covering 22km of iconic Blue Mountains trails, UTA22 is achievable yet challenging, with epic escarpment views and lush valley crossings. Ideal for those stepping up from road to trail.
UTA50 – Your First Ultra
The UTA50 course showcases the second half of the 100km course, including the sweeping vistas of Kedumba Valley and the challenging Furber Steps finale. It’s the perfect ultra-marathon debut.
UTA100 – The Icon
The UTA100 is Australia’s premier 100km ultra-trail event. This breathtaking course includes landmarks like Narrow Neck, Ironpot Ridge, Wentworth Falls, and the climb up Furber Steps. Finishers are awarded the coveted UTA Belt Buckle — a badge of courage and determination.
UTAMiler – 100 Miles of Wonder
Newly introduced, the UTAMiler tests your limits across 161.5km of pure trail majesty. Tackle Grose Valley, Grand Canyon, Lockleys Pylon, and more, with 7,290m+ of elevation gain. A true “life in a day” experience.
