Conquer the Summit is a community running event held in March every year in the beautiful Adelaide Hills at Mt Barker. With distance options including 5, 10 and 20 kilometres there is something for all ages and fitness levels. First held in 2012, the main purpose of this iconic event is to raise funds for Operation Flinders and other charities that support our local youth. The event is a major fundraiser of Mt Barker Lions and Rotary Clubs. The event begins at the Mt Barker Homemaker Centre with the initial stage through the Laratinga Wetlands (named after the traditional Peramangk people's meaning for Mt Barker Creek, "Flooding Land Creek"). After leaving the wetlands competitors run through the surrounding rural area, following a combination of roadside, fire track, vineyard and trail all the way to the top of Mt Barker Summit.
