Spanning four unforgettable days, this event offers something for runners of all abilities, from first-timers to seasoned ultra-endurance athletes. Proudly recognized as a UTMB® INDEX event, it’s a must-do on every trail runner’s calendar for 2025.

Whether you’re lacing up for a 15km forest run, a 100km ultra-challenge, or anything in between, the Noosa Trail Network promises diverse, runnable terrain through national parks, state forests, and scenic hinterland. Event Lineup

100km Ultra-Trail®: Hinterland Traverse

  • Distance: 100km
  • Ascent: ~2,500m
  • Cut-Off: Midnight (18 hours)
  • Course Description:
    The ultimate challenge, this course takes runners deep into the Noosa Trail Network, starting in shady, forested areas and heading west through Woondum National Park to the valley floor at Madill Road (40km checkpoint). The second half includes breathtaking ridgeline climbs, key checkpoints at Pomona and Lake MacDonald, and finishes at Noosa District Sports Complex. Runners will enjoy a mix of shady rainforest trails, creek crossings, and runnable tracks.
    • Highlights: The steep climb to James McKane Lookout, creek crossings in the cooler valleys, and fast descents into Pomona and Lake MacDonald.
    • Key Cut-Offs:
      • 40km (Madill Road): 2:30pm-3:00pm
      • 66km (Pomona): 5:00pm
      • 86km (Lake MacDonald): 9:00pm

80km Hinterland Traverse

  • Distance: 80km
  • Ascent: ~1,800m
  • Cut-Off: Midnight (16 hours)
  • Course Description:
    Traversing many of the same trails as the 100km Ultra-Trail®, this course starts at Twin Hills View Lookout, winding through Woondum National Park before key checkpoints at Cooran, Pomona, and Lake MacDonald. Featuring runnable terrain, shady forest sections, and fewer steep climbs, it’s a challenging but achievable course for experienced trail runners.
    • Key Cut-Offs:
      • 23km (Twin Hills Lookout): 10:30am
      • 66km (Pomona): 5:00pm

50km Out’N’Back

  • Distance: 50km
  • Ascent: ~800m
  • Cut-Off: 9 hours
  • Course Description:
    Starting and finishing at the Noosa District Sports Complex, the Out’N’Back course is designed for first-time ultra runners or marathoners looking to step up. Following the Noosa Trail Network, runners head out toward Twin Hills View Lookout and loop back via Yurol State Forest. This runnable course has limited elevation gain and is shaded for much of its length, making it ideal for fast times.
    • Highlights: Smooth, flat trails; creek crossings; and shaded sections.
    • Perfect For: Road marathon runners transitioning to ultras.

30km Pomona Sundowner

  • Distance: 30km
  • Ascent: ~500m
  • Start Time: Afternoon
  • Course Description:
    Dubbed the "Beer Run," this scenic point-to-point trail starts in Pomona and ends at Noosa District Sports Complex. A family-friendly event with an afternoon start, the course winds through Yurol State Forest, featuring shaded trails and dirt tracks. Finish with a celebratory beer or wine at the finish line.
    • Highlights: Afternoon start, shaded dirt tracks, and a festival atmosphere.
    • Extras: Courtesy shuttle from the finish to Pomona is included.

25km Cross Country

  • Distance: 25km
  • Ascent: ~400m
  • Course Description:
    Starting at Twin Hills View Lookout, this fast, point-to-point course offers stunning vistas of Lake Cootharaba and the hinterland. Runners enjoy runnable surfaces and smooth trails, making it perfect for half-marathoners stepping into trail running. Courtesy buses shuttle participants to the start line.
    • Highlights: Panoramic views, smooth trails, and a fast course profile.

15km Forest Run

  • Distance: 15km
  • Ascent: ~200m
  • Course Description:
    A loop course in Tewantin Forest Reserve, this event is ideal for new trail runners or those looking for a manageable challenge. With sections of single track, forest trails, and paved paths, this run offers plenty of variety while remaining beginner-friendly.
    • Perfect For: New trail runners or road runners seeking a taste of the trails.
