At Run Ready, we offer elite-level run coaching, sports physiotherapy, and strength & conditioning programs tailored for kids, teens, adults, and athletes of all abilities. 

Operating since 2012, Run Ready is recognised as one of Melbourne’s leading providers of running and athletics coaching. Our renowned strength & conditioning program, designed for all ages and experience levels, further supports athletes in reaching their full potential. Our coaching team, all holding leading industry qualifications, provide expert guidance and comprehensive rehabilitation services. 

Led by experts Nick and Jo Bowden, our coaches bring a wealth of experience to every session. Nick Bowden, a World Athletics and Athletics Australia accredited coach educator, delivers national-level insights that he has learned through over 30 years of coaching. 

Jo Bowden, with a Bachelor’s in Sport & Exercise Science and postgraduate studies in Exercise Physiology, is a Level 2 Accredited Coach with Athletics Australia and previously served as the Head Coach of Athletics and Cross Country at Camberwell Girls Grammar School.

Meet the Coaches

Nick Bowden

DIRECTOR and Head Running COACH

With decades of coaching across multiple sports, with a specific focus on running and athletics, Nick has both the qualifications and experience to lead our team, while delivering quality experiences for athletes in development, performance, and recreational groups. As an accredited coach educator with World Athletics and Athletics Australia, and working regularly in the tertiary sector, the learning and teaching principles that guide our delivery are aligned with national and international best practice models.

Highlights of Nick’s coaching experience include being a coach for the Australian U20 teams in Beijing, China (2006) and Bydgoszcz, Poland (2008), the Head Coach of Athletics & Cross country at Wesley College, Melbourne (2000-2009) and coaching Ben Buckingham from schoolboy steeplechaser in 2008, to world championship representative in 2009, then supporting him through to the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. Nick is currently coaching athletics and cross country at Sacre Coeur.

Nick’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise Science), and ASCA Level 1 and IAAF Level 4 Athletics coaching accreditations.

Jo Bowden

Director, Running COACH, Strength & Conditioning Coach

Jo is the co-owner of Run Ready, following a vision to provide expert coaching services in running and strength and conditioning. Jo has been a competitor, student, coach and observer of sport throughout her life.

Jo completed a Bachelor of Sport & Exercise Science and Post Graduate studies in Exercise Physiology. Jo is passionate about coaching kids, teenage girls and women to remain active and strong. It is exciting to see the benefits of expert coaching delivered to over 300 kids, teens and adults each week through Run Ready.

Jo is a Level 2 Accredited Coach with Athletics Australia (Recreational Running and Track Field) and is Head Coach of Athletics and Cross Country at Camberwell Girls Grammar School in Melbourne. Jo enjoys running, plays competitive hockey and loves keeping active with her four children.

Aiden Harvey

HEAD OF STRENGTH & CONDITIONING

Aiden has a passion for developing young athletes and enhancing their sporting performance through specialised strength and power training. With an impressive background in athletics, Aiden is a three-time national champion in shot put and has represented Australia on multiple occasions.

A coach at Run Ready since 2019, Aiden started coaching at Trinity Grammar in Sydney while he was studying, before moving to Melbourne to work as the Head of Strength and Conditioning at Wesley College.   

His athletics has allowed Aiden the privilege of spending a lot of time around high performance facilities with elite athletes and coaches, providing a lot of knowledge and experience of performance training at the highest level.

Aiden is an accredited Level 2 Strength & Conditioning coach through the ASCA.

Tom O’Connor

Physiotherapist

Tom is a physiotherapist and S&C coach with a keen interest in the management and rehabilitation of all sporting and musculoskeletal injuries. He brings a meticulous, athlete-centred approach to managing all injuries and is passionate about the use of technology and performance testing in the rehabilitation process.

Tom has significant experience working with youth and adolescent athletes, and regularly manages knee, foot and ankle injuries, tendon pain, bone stress and running injuries. He has completed further training in the management of acute and traumatic knee injuries, strength & conditioning, running biomechanics and return to sport testing.

Outside his time at Run Ready, Tom works as a physiotherapist with Athletics Victoria assisting state track and field teams, and is the Head Physiotherapist for the VAFA Umpiring Department. He is heavily involved in track & field, regularly called upon to assist elite runners with both injuries and performance.

Tom’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science and Master of Physiotherapy Practice. He is accredited as a Level 3 Track & Field coach through Athletics Australia, and as a Level 2 Strength & Conditioning coach through the ASCA.

Maddy McCavana

Physiotherapist

Maddy McCavana is one of our dedicated and passionate physiotherapists at Run Ready. Hailing from Belfast, North Ireland, Maddy brings a rich background in professional football, excelling in roles with Academy, Development, and Senior Men’s teams.

Maddy’s holistic approach to physiotherapy prioritises personalised care, injury prevention, and effective rehabilitation strategies, ensuring each athlete achieves their peak performance. Her passion for sports wellness and continuous learning makes her an invaluable asset to the Run Ready team and our clients.

Maddy’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Science (Physiotherapy), a FIFA Diploma of Football Medicine, and a Master of Science (Sports Physiotherapy). She has also completed further training in the advanced management of trauma in football, and is currently the Head Physiotherapist for St Kevin’s Old Boys Football Club.
