Founder and Head Coach
Blake Hose
Blake is the founder of APRC and has raced all over the globe throughout his sporting career. He is a three-time Australian representative at the World Sky Running Championships, an Oceania Sky Running Champion in the short course and marathon and has been on podiums and in the top 10 of some of the world’s biggest trail races such as Transvulcania.
Starting coaching in 2016, Blake has worked with athletes that simply want to get to the finish line under the cut-off and those that have won the biggest trail races in Australia. But regardless of the athlete’s specific goal or ability, his aim as a coach is to maximize the potential of athletes by providing unparalleled support and guidance through every step of the process. He believes that being approachable and considerate of people’s lives outside running is the key to a successful coach-athlete relationship; and that the best results will be achieved by placing focus on the long-term plan and consistency over all else.

Mikey Dimuantes
Mikey has been racing at an elite level since 2020, and in that time has achieved wins and podiums both overseas and in Australia. Most recently Mikey won the UTA100, and is currently Australia’s top ranked trail runner. Mikey has been coached by APRC’s Blake Hose since 2023. The long term, holistic approach adopted by APRC has led to huge improvements to Mikey’s performance in both long and short trail races. After coaching friends for a few years, Mikey sought to improve his skills and dedication as a coach. He looked to APRC as a trusted powerhouse of Australian trail running and jumped at the opportunity to coach with them.
As a full time employee, student, athlete and coach, Mikey has a strong understanding of balancing life commitments. He aims to support athletes to make running a fun and sustainable part of their life, whilst also chasing big and intimidating goals.

David Byrne
Dave is a lifelong runner, originating on the track and road as a young gun and transitioning onto trails a decade ago. He has represented Australia across various disciplines, and has some very slick pb’s from 5k to the half marathon. Dave has raced all over the globe on the trails, and has worked with elite athletes as a coach for over 10 years.

Majell Backhausen
If you’ve ever run a trail race in Australia, and well, anywhere in the world, you’ve probably heard of Maj. He’s been a staple in the Australian trail scene since 2013 and in that time has run the worlds biggest races, including UTMB. Asides from his running endeavours, Maj is prolific in the spaces of environment and community engagement, which is why he is the perfect fit as our community coordinator within APRC. Maj has a real passion for not just doing events for the performance aspect, but also for where they take you and the awesome things to get to see along the way. A sucker for punishment, Maj has a particular interest in running a looongggg way, and loves a 100miler!
