"Race Wrap Up
Jul 16, 2024
What an amazing race day at the Raffertys Coastal Run! We had a great turnout – 57% race newbies and 43% repeat offenders who just can’t get enough of Raffertys Coastal Run.
And hey, if you’re into stats, here’s some more: our male-to-female ratio was almost a perfect 50/50. Equality on the trails—we love to see it and celebrate it! We also had the second highest number of runners ever at what is quickly becoming another very popular event on our calendar.
Lake Macquarie turned on the charm, with clear skies, sunshine and the right amount of wind to keep it cool. The course was challenging, wild and scenic and all runners should be proud of their efforts on the day.
Now, let’s talk winners. The 12 km field was fast and furious, 1st place was awarded to, Hanys Zbynek for the males and Liz Elton for the females. The 22 km course saw John Pinchen as the first male runner home and Monika Ludriks the first female runner home. The 36 km course 1st place male was Simon Cochrane and the female top spot was convincingly won by Stephanie Auston, 28 minutes ahead of 2nd place. A big shout out to the 45 volunteers who lent a hand for the day, generously giving their time and energy to make the event run smoothly.
A massive thank you to Raffertys Resort for hosting the event centre, it’s a truly spectacular start and finish on their green lake-front lawns, we are very grateful for the ongoing partnership.
A big thanks also goes out to our other sponsors and supporters, Lake Macquarie City Council, Tailwind for stocking our aid stations on course and keeping runners fuelled. Tarkine the epic Aussie shoe brand forging a path in sustainable footwear. NORT beer, how sweet were those alcohol-free finisher beers? And CREST radio services, the residents of Raffertys Resort and the Murrays Beach Community Association.
Finally, a massive thanks to every runner for being a part of the day, thanks for running with us, we hope to see you soon at another Max Adventure event!"
